Philadelphia Selects Hansen for $3 Million Licensing And Inspections Project

Hansen System To Supply Integrated Web-Based, Mobile, and Desktop Solutions

SACRAMENTO, Calif., Oct. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Hansen Information
Technologies (Hansen(R)) announced today that the City of Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania, has entered into a $3 million contract to implement Hansen's
integrated Building Permit and Code Enforcement application for the City's
 Department of Licenses and Inspections.
With a population of 1.5 million, the City of Philadelphia's Department of
Licenses & Inspections (L&I) processes more than 40,000 permit applications
annually. These range from building permits, health and sanitation, business
licenses, police and fire protection, street use, code enforcement fines, and
 other licenses.
The new Hansen system will streamline Philadelphia's building permit
processing and coordinate plan review and approval processes. This also
enhances the calculation and collection of fees, the dispatch of inspectors,
business and professional licenses issue and renewal, and code enforcement
 business processes.
A key aspect of the project will be the implementation of Hansen's
web-based DynamicPORTAL(TM) allowing citizens and businesses to apply for
permits and licenses online. Contractors, developers, architects, and
citizens, will no longer be required to wait in line at City Hall to apply for
a number of permits and licenses.
"The new Hansen system will facilitate Philadelphia's L&I Department's
management of business operations and internal processing more efficiently,"
said Chuck Hansen, chairman and chief executive officer of Hansen. "By
mobilizing the city's field inspectors and providing web transaction
capabilities, the Hansen system provides a basis for enhanced customer
 satisfaction."
Hansen also provides software licensing for an additional 150 handheld
computers with an integrated mobile solutions capability. This enables field
crews and other remote users to send and receive work requests, violations,
fee adjustments, and other work assignments to and from city offices. It also
shortens the processing time for inspections and approvals.
As all devices will be part of a wide area networked solution, inspectors
will be able to access information for:

     -- Licenses
     -- Permits
     -- Past code enforcement violations
     -- Ownership data
     -- Geographical and spatial information

Hansen's system also features advanced products based on Microsoft's(R)
software programming technologies, allowing seamless enterprise connectivity
between office desktop and mobile field workers.
The overall project is part of a six-part implementation plan commencing
 immediately.
