FAIRFIELD, Calif., Sept. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- To help find a cure for
breast cancer, dedicated packages of Fruit Punch flavored Sport Beans(R)
jelly beans by Jelly Belly will benefit The Breast Cancer Research
Foundation(R). The "pink ribbon" packaging includes a pledge to donate 5%
of the sales of Sport Beans energizing jelly beans to the non-profit group.
The pink ribbon Sport Beans packages in the campaign are available in
1-oz. single serving packets dedicated to the campaign. For runners,
triathletes, cyclists, hikers and sports enthusiasts who take to the tracks
to train and compete this month, the specially marked pink ribbon bags are
 in sporting goods stores nationwide.
Sport Beans jelly beans are formulated for sports performance and
contain 25 grams of carbohydrates, electrolytes and vitamins. Each
100-calorie packet is about the recommended source for extended exertion.
Scientifically formulated, the energy product helps maintain hydration and
replenish nutrients. The International Journal of Sport Nutrition and
Exercise Metabolism published a study in April 2008 on "Carbohydrate
Supplement-Form and Exercise Performance" which measured the effectiveness
of Sport Beans compared to other sports supplements and water. Sport Beans
was shown in this study to be as effective as sport drinks, gels and more
 effective than water alone.
Sport Beans jelly beans also sponsor the Danskin Women's Triathlon
Series, where samples and pink water bottles are given out at fuel
stations. The NTTC/Sport Beans professional triathletes and the Jelly Belly
professional cycling team compete under the Sport Beans banner.
Jelly Belly Candy Company introduced Sport Beans jelly beans in 2005
for exercisers and athletes. More information is available at
