Pioneering Wine Blogger Successfully Raises Funds For Wine Book Project on Kickstarter Vinography.Com founder to self publish The Essence of Wine for release in the Spring of 2014.
SAN FRANCISCO, Jan. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Local wine writer Alder Yarrow today announced the success of his Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to self-publish a unique book of photographs and essays about wine entitled The Essence of Wine: Celebrating the Delights of the Palate.
The highly subscribed crowdfunding campaign raised 134% of its target amount, and generated buzz across many social media channels. "I'm thrilled with the results," said Yarrow. "It's great to see people respond to a new way of exploring the amazing world of wine."
The Essence of Wine will be a hardcover, coffee table book version of the collaboration that Yarrow began on his blog in 2012 with award-winning food photographer Leigh Beisch. The book celebrates and explores the many aromas and flavors found in wine through a stunning photograph and essay about each "essence" accompanied by recommendations for wines that express that particular taste or scent. An eBook version is also planned.
More than 400 copies of the book have already been sold, and Yarrow continues to accept pre-orders on his web site. Delivery of the hardcover is expected in April.
Vinography.Com is one of the most visited and lauded wine blogs on the Internet. Founded by Alder Yarrow in 2004, it was nominated for a James Beard Award in 2013. On January 4, 2014, on the eve of his 10th anniversary writing about wine online, Yarrow was inducted into the Wine Media Guild of New York's Wine Writers' Hall of Fame alongside such figures as Hugh Johnson, Robert M. Parker, Jr., and Jancis Robinson. Yarrow is the first blogger to be so honored.
