May 16, 2005, 01:00 ET from Plastics News

AKRON, Ohio, May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Plastics News in mid-June is launching
a weekly electronic news service for the Greater China region. The e-mail
news broadcast, free to subscribers, will be backed by a new Web site filled
with articles and useful features edited for readers in China. Both the news
broadcast, called Plastics News China eWeekly, and Web site at
http://www.PlasticsNews.com/China , will be in simplified Chinese and English.

"No market is moving at a more breakneck pace than China," notes Robert
Grace, Plastics News editor and associate publisher. "Executives and managers
there have a strong need for timely, independent business, market and
technology news from around the world. We plan to provide that information to
 China's plastics and design leaders."
Akron-based Plastics News, published by Crain Communications Inc
(http://www.crain.com ), has been delivering global plastics industry news to
60,000 readers in North America every week for 16 years. It is the industry's
leading publication as measured by circulation, readership and advertising
 revenue.
The new service targets readers in mainland China, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Initial goal is to deliver the weekly news broadcast consisting of 8-12 story
headlines and summaries to 25,000 subscribers. The headlines will link back
to more complete stories on the new Web site, with the full-text versions
 fully accessible to all readers.
The editorial focus will be to provide news of value to readers operating
plastics and product design businesses in China. This includes coverage of
new technologies and applications, materials supply and demand, trade and
legal issues, design trends, tooling news, environmental issues, end-market
and economic prospects, and processing and machinery developments. The
content will be written by Plastics News staff writers, correspondents and
expert contributors around the world. The publication recently hired a
Chinese national as a reporter in Akron, and is adding news correspondents in
 Asia.
The free weekly broadcast and complete access to the new Web site will be
supported by advertising. To date, Husky Injection Molding Systems Ltd.,
Maguire Products Inc. and Progressive Components have signed on as charter
 advertisers.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for suppliers to reach a huge and
important processing community," said Plastics News Publisher Tony Eagan.
"Our readers in Greater China will quickly recognize the quality of our news
products. We expect readership to grow substantially throughout the Pacific
 Rim."
Advertising is being sold in packages that include both the weekly news
broadcast and the Web site. For sales details, contact Eagan at
