INDIANAPOLIS, Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Polymer Technology Systems, Inc. has recently introduced the revolutionary BioScanner 2000(TM) test system for the complete management of diabetes and diabetic complications ( www.diabetes-testing.com ). The BioScanner 2000(TM) resembles a common glucose meter in function, but the similarity ends there as the device can also test for Cholesterol, Ketone, HDL, LDL, Triglycerides, Hemoglobin A1c (Glycohemoglobin), MicroAlbumin and Creatinine. With the release of the BioScanner 2000(TM), the benefits now available to both Type 1 and Type II diabetics are substantial because they can now test for other blood chemistries in the privacy of their homes -- not just glucose. Furthermore, the CLIA waiver means that more physicians will be able to offer testing in their own offices and provide immediate analysis and feedback to their patients while the doctor is with the patient. The results of these tests allow diabetes patients and physicians to significantly increase the management of diabetes, and, therefore, reduce the risk of diabetes complications such as amputation, blindness and coronary heart disease. More tests are currently in development for the BioScanner 2000(TM) and will be released to both the professional and home consumer markets in the near future. Consumers can also purchase the BioScanner 2000(TM) on the internet at the following address: www.diabetes-testing.com . The numerous features of the BioScanner 2000(TM) include: multiple blood chemistry testing, one-step testing with no timing, averaging for previous ten tests, past fourteen and thirty days and storage of up to seven hundred test results, automatic shut-off in two minutes from non-use of instrument, automatic calibration with inserted MEMo chip (included with each strip package), results in less than one minute and future test capability. The BioScanner 2000(TM) test system currently has FDA clearances for Glucose, Cholesterol, HDL Cholesterol and Ketone. Triglyceride test strips have also been submitted for approval and tests for LDL Cholesterol will be submitted this month. Creatinine, MicroAlbumin, Hemoglobin A1c, and ALT will be submitted by year's end, 1999. Polymer Technology Systems, Inc., is a privately owned company located on the northwest side of Indianapolis.
