Presidio Graduate School Offers Master Class with Slow Money Visionary Woody Tasch
SAN FRANCISCO, May 2, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Presidio Graduate School will showcase the principles and practices of "slow money" as it presents a Master Class with Woody Tasch, founder and chairman of the nonprofit organization Slow Money, on Wednesday, May 8. Open to the public, the class will focus on Tasch's vision of rebuilding local food systems, saving farmland, promoting ecological diversity and improving health and nutrition through investment in food entrepreneurs and small food and farm enterprises.
"Woody's work has not only illuminated the relationship between unsustainable investment and food, but, more importantly, helped to build an entire field of Slow Money investors who are taking action on a way forward ." says Ryan Cabinte, faculty director for the Presidio Center for Professional Development, PresidioPRO. "Presidio Graduate school is very proud to be bringing Woody to Presidio."
Named one of the "25 Visionaries Who Are Changing Your World" by Utne Reader in 2010, Tasch is the author of the book Inquiries Into the Nature of Slow Money: Investing as if Food, Farms and Fertility Mattered. Before founding Slow Money in 2008, he spent 10 years as the chairman of Investors' Circle, which invested in early-stage ventures and venture funds promoting sustainability. In the 1990s, Tasch pioneered the integration of asset management and philanthropic purpose as treasurer of the Jessie Smith Noyes Foundation and founding chairman of the Community Development Venture Capital Alliance.
Offered through PresidioPRO, the Master Class series provides opportunities for professionals in the public, private and nonprofit sectors to interact with sustainability thought leaders such as Tasch, expand their knowledge, learn best practices and generate new ideas to address business challenges. Each class incorporates readings and exercises applying the tools and methods presented by the lecturer.
