MANHATTAN, Kan., Aug. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The 2013 Purple Power Play on Poyntz has been moved to City Park. City Park will now host more than 20,000 event attendees while Poyntz Avenue is under construction. Dating back to 1988, Purple Power Play on Poyntz has been a way for the Manhattan community to support and celebrate the Kansas State football team and athletics. Hosted before the first home game of the year, this years event will be held Wednesday, August 28th and Thursday, August 29th starting at 6pm.
This year's event includes a wide variety of entertainment. Starting on Wednesday night at 5 p.m., there will be photos with Willie in the park pavilion. Show your K-State pride by proudly displaying your photos with Willie in your home. At 6 p.m. the K-State Tap Dance Studio will perform, followed by Bates Dance Studio and the Mikey Needleman Band. To finish off Wednesday night, the K-State Pep Rally will begin at 8:05 p.m. The pep rally will feature K-State coaches, the K-State marching band, cheerleaders, Classy Cats and Willie the Wildcat.
Thursday nights events will kick off with the MHS Pop Choir. This act will be followed by the Washington Dance Studio and David Oakleaf and the Open Road. Again at 8:05 p.m. the K-State Pep Rally will begin. Thursday night will close with fireworks at sundown. While these events are going on families and students can enjoy inflatables and a wide variety of vendors.
