Flights to Brisbane and Sydney increase as route shows strong demand

DFW AIRPORT, Texas, Oct. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- QANTAS Airways today announced it will expand to daily service in the coming year for its flights between Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport and Brisbane and Sydney, Australia. QANTAS currently serves DFW with four flights a week, and the airline reports its demand for those flights has been extremely strong. QANTAS will grow its DFW service incrementally, initially expanding to six flights a week starting January 12, 2012, with plans to add a seventh weekly flight by July 12.

QANTAS' status as a oneworld Alliance partner with American Airlines means passengers have a multitude of codeshare options available, as well as hundreds of connection options on either end of the route, making travel between North America and Australia more convenient.

The QANTAS flight will produce about $200 million in annual economic impact to the Dallas/Fort Worth area once the flight goes to daily status, according to DFW Airport estimates.

To promote the new daily service, QANTAS is offering a fare sale through October 10, good for travel between January 15 and August 31, 2012.

QANTAS launched its service at DFW in May 2011, serving DFW from Sydney with a return flight to Brisbane and then on to Sydney.  QANTAS will continue to serve the DFW flight with specially configured Boeing 747-400ER extended range aircraft.
