WASHINGTON, Aug. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Qorvis Communications, LLC today
announced the formation of a research division to add to its list of skill
sets. WRS Research will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Qorvis that will
provide clients with full-service strategic opinion and market research. WRS
services will include phone surveys, Internet-based interviews (IBI),
intercept interviews, focus groups, dial test groups, one-on-one in-depth
interviews and mail surveys. The division will be led by Chris Wilson, former
president and COO of SWR Worldwide, and will start with a revenue base of
 approximately $2 million.
"Research is the essence of strategy and a critical part of our service
philosophy," said Qorvis Managing Partner Michael J. Petruzzello. "We have
been working to bring research in-house and I am especially thrilled to be re-
united with Chris from our days at Shandwick."
Wilson is widely recognized as one of America's leading public opinion
research and research-based strategic consultants. He has conducted thousands
of public opinion surveys for hundreds of candidates, companies and political
 organizations nationwide.
In addition, Wilson has an extensive background in campaign strategy,
political media relations and message development, having served on several
successful Republican campaigns in the Southern and Midwestern regions. In
1999, Wilson was named as a "Mover & Shaker" in American politics by Campaigns
& Elections Magazine -- a campaign industry publication.
Previously, Wilson served as Executive Director of the Republican Party of
Texas, replacing Karen Hughes, currently the Special Assistant to the
President of the United States for Communications. In that capacity, he
worked closely with Karl Rove, who now serves as Senior Advisor to President
"When I decided to leave Shandwick, I had several attractive and appealing
offers from other respected agencies and organizations, but I decided to go
with Qorvis because it is such an exciting place to be right now," said
Wilson. "This company is doing a level of work not found in agencies of it
size, and it is growing rapidly and in all the right ways."
WRS Research will start with a team of three research professionals and
will be located within Qorvis' offices in Washington, D.C. and Tysons Corner,
"Those of us who come out of campaign politics understand the value and
importance of research to a winning issues campaign," said Jim Weber, Qorvis
partner and formerly a partner at Luntz Research. "On the Arctic National
Wildlife Refuge issue, for example, research was key to the development of a
message and strategy that led to an unexpected passage by the House of
Representatives of legislation to open the arctic for oil exploration."
