Reader's Digest 'Word Power(R)' is Now Available in Online Game Format

    NEW YORK, April 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Reader's Digest announced
 today the launch of a new online game version of "Word Power(R)" for,
 the Web destination for Reader's Digest magazine.  The Word Power online game,
 created for by Arkadium, is based on the popular feature in the
 magazine and the Reader's Digest National Word Power Challenge(SM), a national
 competition for schoolchildren in grades four through eight; both test
 vocabulary skills and knowledge.
     Arkadium, a leading provider of unique online games and community-based
 game software, re-engineered the magazine's popular offline pastime for the
 online world. Now, Word Power players will have access anytime, anywhere to
 one of their favorite games by simply logging on to

     There are four versions of the game, each of which uses questions to test
 vocabulary knowledge.  In the four versions, players must either choose
 correct definitions from multiple choices, unscramble a group of letters,
 match words with definitions, or match words with their synonyms.  All of the
 games are timed and points are calculated.  High-scoring players will be
 recognized on the site.
     Word Power has appeared in Reader's Digest since 1945 and was created by
 Wilfred Funk, the son of the creator of the Funk&Wagnalls dictionary. Nearly 6
 million Reader's Digest readers complete Word Power each month.
