Resolving Water Issues Without Chemicals
PALM DESERT, Calif., Jan. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Best Western Palm Desert could no longer discharge the cooling tower waste water into the Coachella Valley Sewer System due to recently enacted ordnance, banning the discharge of cooling tower water to their sewer system. The ownership approached HydroFlow West to find a cost effective resolution which involved removing the discharge to the sewer and removal of the chemicals required to treat this water for bacteria.
Hydroflow West designed and installed a side stream filtration system with HydroFlow Technology to the 35 ton cooling tower. The water in the cooling tower basin is now clean and bacteria free and usable for anything other than human consumption. It can be safely sent to irrigation, as is the case for the Best Western, for landscaping.
Hydroflow West solution significantly reduces the blow down due to the capturing of minerals in the filter and treating the water with Hydropath Technology. With less water discharged from the tower, the water is now used for irrigation around the immediate perimeter of the facility, free of chemicals. HydroFlow West was able to lower per day discharge by 75% from 750 to 1200 gallons per day to 187 to 300 gallons per day. Additionally, the HydroFlow Technology is removing existing limescale bringing the cooling tower back to maximum efficiency and protecting against corrosion and killing 99% of the bacteria in the system.
"We are excited to offer non-chemical water treatment solutions to clients. With Hydropath technology we're reducing chemical usage and water consumption providing an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional chemical treatments" said Peter Boyd, Director of Business Development for HydroFlow West.
