Results of The Nation's Report Cards: Math and Reading 2011, Grades 4 and 8 NAEP Reports Reveal Students' 21st Century Skills in Math and Reading
WASHINGTON, Oct. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- On November 1, the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) will jointly release The Nation's Report Cards: Math and Reading 2011 academic achievement results detailing fourth and eighth graders' progress on essential 21st century skills. These results can be compared to previous assessment years from—1990 for math and 1992 for reading—and include national and state-level information, racial/ethnic and gender comparisons, and background variables that spotlight factors of increased achievement.
NAEP, also known as The Nation's Report Card, is the largest continuing, nationally representative measure of student achievement in the United States.
In a live webinar on the joint report card releases, a distinguished panel will discuss the reports' findings and provide their insight into the importance of math and reading as the cornerstone of students' education. Webinar panelists include:

The Nation's Report Card is the only nationally representative, continuing evaluation of the condition of education in the United States and has served as a national yardstick of student achievement since 1969. Through the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP), The Nation's Report Card informs the public about what America's students know and can do in various subject areas, and compares achievement data between states and various student demographic groups.
The National Assessment Governing Board is an independent, bipartisan board whose members include governors, state legislators, local and state school officials, educators, business representatives and members of the general public. Congress created the 26-member Governing Board in 1988 to set policy for NAEP.
