Revamped MyFord Touch Interface replaces touch screen controls with dials and buttons Maritime Ford to offer modified center stack in 2014 Ford vehicles

MANITOWOC, Wis., June 19, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The MyFord Touch interface and Ford SYNC voice-recognition system have been driving forces behind the sales success and customer satisfaction of 2013 Ford models in Manitowoc, WI. Despite the overall success, Ford is listening to customer feedback to improve and evolve MyFord Touch. The response — a humble step back to more dials, knobs, and buttons to control features like volume and tuning.

While reverting to manual controls rather than touch screen controls might seem like a step away from the advanced interior of modern Ford vehicles, it actually is a step toward improving the already well-received MyFord Touch system. The success of the MyFord Touch system has been well-documented, as the interface has been sold on 79 percent of new Ford vehicles, and the addition of more traditional controls may help increase those numbers.

"Ford has launched 60 new technologies the past few years and they are helping attract many new customers in important markets such as the coasts," says Raj Nair, group vice president, global product development. "SYNC and MyFord Touch are key parts of our innovation strategy, and not only bring more new customers to our brand, but help deliver higher satisfaction with overall vehicle quality."

Despite the search for a perfect balance between touch screen and manual controls, Maritime Ford customers continue to have positive experiences with the MyFord Touch system. In fact, the 2013 Ford F-150 with MyFord Touch has the highest rate of quality satisfaction throughout the entire Ford lineup while 53 percent of Ford Espace owners note the MyFord interface is one of their top reasons for purchase.

Keep an eye out for more manual controls starting in 2014 Ford models. For more information about the Ford lineup, visit www.maritimeford.com or call 920-684-0261.
