BROOKFIELD, Wis., Jan. 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- RF Technologies®, a leading provider of radio frequency identification monitoring systems and healthcare security solutions, has announced a distributor agreement with Universal Hospital Services, Inc. ("UHS"), a leading provider of medical equipment management and service solutions. Through the agreement, which went into effect on November 1, UHS will offer the RF Technologies Safe Place® Infant and Pediatric Security Solution, an anti-abduction system, to hospitals nationwide.
"We are delighted that RF Technologies will be able to expand to help even more healthcare providers safeguard their infant patients through this agreement with UHS," said Glenn Jonas, Owner and Chief Executive Officer for RF Technologies, Inc. "UHS has a reputation for offering an outstanding breadth of innovative equipment-based solutions to its customers, making them an ideal partner to help us deliver Safe Place to hospitals nationwide."
"The Safe Place product line is a natural fit for UHS because it supports our commitment to providing solutions that support optimal patient care and safety," said Gary Blackford, Chief Executive Officer for UHS. "Caregivers receive patient-ready equipment they can count on to build trust and peace of mind, while healthcare executives can appreciate the increased operational efficiency that Safe Place offers."
Innovative technology providing safety to hospitals
The Safe Place Infant and Pediatric Security Solution protects infants and children within an assigned area of a hospital. Security begins as soon as the nurse attaches the small, lightweight transmitter onto the child's ankle. If an abductor attempts to remove an infant through a protected doorway or other point of exit, an alarm will sound and all area doors and elevators will lock. Any attempt to tamper with system wiring or transmitters by unauthorized personnel will send an alert to the monitoring system.
Safe Place utilizes Smart Sense™ technology, which uses multiple measurements to maximize infant protection. The security system can detect if a band is loose, tampered with, or has been removed from the infant. The soft, stretchy band comfortably shrinks around the newborn's ankle to accommodate weight loss or gain, keeping the transmitter in place and the infant secure.
