Richard Gamble Appointed Publisher of Chicago Magazine and Chicago Home + Garden
CHICAGO, Aug. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Chicagoland Publishing Company today announced that Richard Gamble has been named publisher of Chicago magazine and Chicago Home + Garden, effective immediately.
"Rich is the perfect choice to take charge of the magazine as we navigate through challenging times," said Ted Biedron, president of Chicagoland Publishing Company, who has been acting as interim publisher. "He has broad experience over many years and knows the business and the people very well."
Gamble has been an executive with the magazine group since Tribune acquired Chicago in August of 2002, serving most recently as Vice-President for Operations. During that time he has led numerous Chicagoland Publishing Co. initiatives in finance, circulation, sales, production and operations. His progressive work in making Chicago a better magazine has earned the respect of all who have worked with him. In 2007, Gamble, along with colleague and Chicago editor, Richard Babcock, was recognized with the company's highest honor for a Tribune management team, receiving the Tribune Values Award for excellence.
Gamble joined the company in 1997, working as Director of Packaging at Freedom Center. He then moved to the Tribune Business Development division as director, and in early 2000 he was named General Manager of Exito!, a forerunner to our Spanish language daily newspaper Hoy. He joined the magazine shortly after it was acquired from Primedia in August 2002.
Gamble is a lifelong Chicagoan. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School. He and his wife Melissa and their daughter Lily live in Chicago.
