LONGMONT, Colo., Nov. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Broadband network technology developer RidgeviewTel, in partnership with StarNet LLC, has secured the assets of the Longmont, Colo. wireless mesh network. This Wi-Fi network, one of the largest mesh networks in the country, currently serves 600 customers and supports over 2,000 devices, which access the network daily. Network upgrades and improvements have begun and plans are underway to further augment the network by deploying additional Tropos and WiMAX equipment, allowing for significant increases in bandwidth availability to business and residential customers.

The City of Longmont has been seeking to provide its businesses and residents advanced telecommunication services for the past 12 years. Following several previous owners, StarNet acquired the network for $122,000 from Boulder County in an auction on November 12, 2009.

RidgeviewTel will now maintain and operate the network under the RidgeviewTel brand using its propriety dBOSS(TM) platform. The dBOSS platform gives RidgeviewTel a major advantage over previous operators: dBOSS(TM) consolidates network operations, engineering and customer service so that all departments access the same information in real-time.
