Riviera Hotel & Casino Mourns the Loss of Frank Sinatra
LAS VEGAS, May 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Riviera Hotel & Casino, home of Frank Sinatra's last permanent engagement in Las Vegas, will honor the legendary singer/entertainer by dedicating one its exclusive hotel suites where Sinatra regularly stayed while he performed at the resort. "The Riviera Hotel & Casino management and its employees are deeply saddened by the passing of Francis Albert Sinatra. He was truly a legend in the world of entertainment. Whenever he performed at the Riviera, his presence alone electrified both the staff and management of the resort and the thousands of fans he entertained. The "Chairman of the Board" will be missed tremendously by his millions of fans throughout the world as well as all of us at the Riviera." The dedication of the suite will include an engraved plaque on the door and a 16 x 20 framed photograph of 0l' Blue Eyes inside the two-bedroom Penthouse suite. Located in the Monaco Tower, Suite 2902 is where Sinatra stayed when he performed at the Riviera. The suite was redesigned to Sinatra's specifications in 1990. Sinatra performed twice at the Riviera in 1990, including New Year's Eve. He also sang to sold-out audiences during a four-day engagement in 1991 and brought in the New Year of 1992 when he played to a standing-room-only audience of more than 2,000 fans in the hotel's Superstar Theatre. In addition, the hotel will honor Sinatra in its Mardi Gras Entertainment Plaza where a framed photo of the Chairman of the Board will oversee a collage of historical photographs of the many great stars who have appeared at the Riviera over past 41 years. The Riviera is also initiating and coordinating a rare darkening of the famed Las Vegas Strip lights with the Las Vegas News Bureau.
