Roschman Dance Premieres Lord Of The Fly Girls
A Brand New Dance That Explores The Violence Of Our New Generation
NEW YORK, Jan. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Roschman Dance is proud to present the premiere of its third evening length production, Lord of The Fly Girls, at the Main Stage Theater at the West Side Dance Project. Lord of The Fly Girls examines the intersection between violence and sexual maturation, the exploitation of the youth culture, the hostility and brutality generated towards those who feel same sex attraction, and dangerous interplay of shame and lust in the education of contemporary young adults. Inspired by the prevalence of violence in schools, and the growing need to address the issues of young adults face in this new society, the piece is danced by Carolyn Barry, Alexandra Mount Campbell, Jonathan Cooper, Michael Gonzalez Cameron, Maryann Peterson, and Brittany Pressley.

Performances will take place at the West Side Dance Project Main Stage Theater, located at 260 W 36th Street, 3rd Floor on Feburary 17th and 18th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $15 , and are available at www.smarttix.com at www.roschmandance.om or at the door.
Artistic Director Sean Roschman began his formal dance training at age 12 in Chicago. Since then he has studied Dance and Directing at NYU, where he received his BFA. His work has been presented at the Hudson Guild Theater, The Ailey Citigroup Theater, Marquee Nightclub, The New York Conservatory for the Dramatic Arts, and at New York University. He recently choreographed the Off Broadway production Little House On The Ferry, and will be choreographing the New York City premiere of Del Closes' Southern Baptist Sisses in the Spring of 2012.
Roschman Dance, founded in 2008, has been commission by Cirque du Soleil's Non Profit "OneDrop.org", HEREarts, New York City Fashion Week, The Maritime Museum of Norwalk, and New York University. In 2010, Roschman Dance performed their first evening length work , The Rite of Spring Street, to sold out crowds. Most recently Roschman Dance became the first dance company to be commissioned by Stuyvesant Town's Summer On The Oval Festival ; creating the original evening length work Ovalicious Mambo.
