Russell Athletic Debuts Xtreme Compression Jersey for Cougars
Saturday Surprise for Washington State
ATLANTA, Oct. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- As the Washington State football team
entered their locker room Saturday morning, everyone was a bit surprised.
Something very important was missing. Something that was definitely a
necessity for their home game against USC -- their uniforms.
The pants and jerseys that had been used to gain the Cougars a 3-1
record prior to Saturday were nowhere to be found.
Luckily, the Cougars did not have to worry long because Russell
Athletic had a special surprise for Washington State. Russell upgraded
WSU's old jerseys with brand new, innovative Xtreme Compression (XC)
jerseys.
The team then knew Saturday would be more than just another PAC10 test
for the Cougars.
"The team was so excited about the new uniform! We've surprised the
team before with different uniform pieces, but they were over the edge
about these," said Milton Neal, Washington State Director of Equipment
Operations.
"It's a classy, traditional look, but with modern innovations.
Washington State wants a look that will last the test of time. Fads come
and go, but incorporating a technology that enhances performance and offers
a competitive advantage to athletes will remain. Russell Athletic has
delivered this with the new XC jersey," said Neal.
Not only is Washington State excited about their new uniforms, but the
XC jersey launch is also the most important product Russell Athletic's team
division is debuting this fall.
"Russell is proud to showcase our product innovation and on-field
authenticity on the WSU field of play," said Sarah Gholston, Russell
Athletic's Director of Team Sports Merchandising.
The XC jersey provides the most modern technology to elevate an
athlete's level of performance on the field. Russell Athletic's XC jersey
innovations include compression fit material that is difficult to grab,
ventilator technology to accelerate body cooling, Dri-Power(R) technology
to wick moisture away from the body, and Anti-Microbial technology to help
eliminate odor.
Washington State is no stranger to debuting new, innovative Russell
Athletic products. In 2003, Russell launched its Stretch Mesh Jersey with
Washington State at the Rose Bowl.
"Washington State has a great relationship with Russell Athletic. I
have been at WSU for 16 years, and we have had Russell the entire time I
have been here. It has been great to see how Russell's innovations and
changes have made our uniforms better," said Neal.
The sold-out game between Washington State and USC was nationally
televised on TBS at 4:00 p.m., Sept. 30.
