METAIRIE, La., June 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Ruth's Chris Steak House, the
United States finest upscale restaurant, announced today that it will expand
into Hong Kong, becoming the first U.S. business to announce expansion there
under the new Chinese regime. The newest Ruth's Chris Steak House is
scheduled to open October 6, 1997 in the Empire Building (68 Mody Rd.) which
overlooks Ocean Bay in Kowloon.

for U.S. businesses," stated Ruth Fertel, Founder and Chairperson of Ruth's

Mr. William Ko, the Pacific Rim franchisee, also sees a bright future
stating, "We looked at the market for a long time before making a commitment
and we believe that now is the right time to open in Hong Kong." Mr. Ko also
owns and operates two other Ruth's Chris Steak Houses -- one in Taipei which
opened in 1993, the other in Taichung which opened in 1996. All three
restaurants offer the same menu which is served in the United States featuring
U.S. Prime beef which is flown in fresh and hand-cut daily at the restaurants.
Ruth's Chris, which was recently named "The Best Restaurant in the United
States," by the Robb Report, is the largest upscale restaurant in the world.
Established in 1965, Ruth's Chris currently operates 59 restaurants in the
U.S., Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Taiwan.
