The task force was created to continue the budget and tax reform evaluations begun during the 2016 First Extraordinary Session. Its mission is to make recommendations of changes to the state's tax laws in an effort to modernize and enhance the efficiency and fairness of the state's tax policies for individuals and businesses, and to examine the structure and design of the state budget, make recommendations for long-term budgeting changes, and report to the Legislature by September 1, 2016.
Last December, Mr. DeCuir was named to Louisiana Governor-Elect John Bel Edwards's fiscal transition team to help advise him on budgetary issues as he prepared to take office January 11, 2016.
