fastest-growing sports categories today, with more than 50 million people
participating last year alone. The Nestle Butterfinger(R) "Break Out"
Challenge gives amateurs around the country a chance to showcase their talent
in BMX, skateboarding or Motocross. Athletes between the ages of 15-25 are
encouraged to send in a one-minute video of their best "Break Out" moves in
one of the three disciplines: BMX, Skateboarding or Motocross.(1)
The top nine finalists (three from each discipline) will receive a
three day/two night trip to Los Angeles for the experience of a lifetime as
they perform for BMX pro Ryan Nyquist, Motocross star Nate Adams and top
Aussie skateboarder and television commentator Jason Ellis. The entry
deadline is September 13, 2004.
Nyquist, Adams and Ellis will crown one finalist from each discipline the
Butterfinger "Break Out" Rookie of the year and award $1,000 cash and $500
worth of gear, along with the opportunity to have their likeness integrated
into a future(2) PlayStation 2 version of the Tony Hawk skateboarding video
Entries will be judged based on the following criteria: 40% Style
(appearance, look of bike, skateboard); 40% Personality (passion and
excitement for action sports); and 20% Creativity (uniqueness of moves).
"Last year, we saw some amazing tricks, and I'm challenging all the
hardcore skaters, bikers and motocross riders across the country to submit a
tape with their best breakout moves," said Nyquist. "It's really simple --
just put your best moves on tape, send them in and let me and Butterfinger
check them out. You might just be on your way to Los Angeles."

and BMX riders came from all over southern Nevada to be videotaped and entered
into the Butterfinger "Break Out" Challenge, as they took on a
specially-designed course. More than 5,000 people watched as Ellis and Adams
