DALLAS, Dec. 9, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Ryan, the leading tax services firm in North America, with the largest transaction tax practice in the United States and Canada, today announced that 15 of the Firm's locations across the United States won 2010 Alfred P. Sloan Awards for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility. Ryan offices in Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Pittsburgh, San Jose, St. Louis, and Washington, D.C. were presented with this prestigious award, recognizing employers across the country that successfully use workplace flexibility as a strategy to increase workplace effectiveness and yield positive business results.
Applicants were evaluated in a rigorous two-step process. First, Ryan's application was compared to nationally representative data from the Families and Work Institute's National Study of Employers. Ryan employees in each of the 15 offices receiving the award were then randomly surveyed on their access to flexible work options and the supportiveness of the Ryan culture, and compared against nationally tested measures of workplace effectiveness. As a result, Ryan ranked in the top 20% of employers nationally in terms of flexible work programs, policies, and culture for creating an effective and flexible workplace.
Ryan pioneered an innovative workplace flexibility initiative called myRyan in August 2008, implementing a major culture shift designed to reach even higher levels of client service and employee satisfaction by changing the measurement of work performance from hours worked to results achieved. Since its inception, myRyan has delivered tremendous dividends for the Firm, its clients, and its employees. Ryan has dramatically improved employee retention and satisfaction, while demonstrating solid year-over-year revenue growth. Most importantly, Ryan employees have achieved the highest client satisfaction ratings in the history of the Firm, while enjoying the freedom to meet the competing demands of work and life.
"We are honored that 15 Ryan offices across the United States have been recognized with this award for workplace innovation and especially proud of the resulting improvements in client service," said G. Brint Ryan, CEO and Managing Principal of Ryan. "In exchange for incredible flexibility and freedom, every Ryan employee has accepted responsibility and accountability for producing superior results, and our clients are benefiting as an outcome."
The Alfred P. Sloan Award for Business Excellence in Workplace Flexibility is part of the When Work Works project, an ongoing initiative of the Families and Work Institute, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for a Competitive Workforce, and the Twiga Foundation.
