Sagent Pharmaceuticals Launches Ondansetron in 5% Dextrose Injection in Premix Ready-to-Use IV Bags
SCHAUMBURG, Ill., Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Sagent Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a privately-held specialty pharmaceutical company, today announced that it has launched ondansetron in 5% dextrose injection in premix bags, an antiemetic and selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy. Sagent's ondansetron in 5% dextrose injection in premix bags is the generic equivalent of GlaxoSmithKline's ZOFRAN(R) Injection Premixed. Sagent will begin marketing and shipping ondansetron in 5% dextrose injection premix bags immediately.

Ondansetron in 5% dextrose injection is the generic equivalent of GlaxoSmithKline's ZOFRAN(R) Injection Premixed. Ondansetron injection is indicated for the prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with initial and repeat courses of emetogenic cancer chemotherapy, including high-dose cisplatin. Efficacy of the 32 mg single dose beyond 24 hours in these patients has not been established. The most common adverse effects for patients receiving ondansetron injection may include constipation, dizziness or headache.
