San Antonio dealership compares two popular crossover SUVs Benson Honda finds Honda Pilot offers more seating and storage than Jeep Grand Cherokee

SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- One vehicle segment that has seen the biggest increase in popularity is the crossover SUV, as the vehicles are able to offer superior storage capacities and high fuel economy ratings than earlier SUVs. With all the available options currently on the market, it can be difficult for consumers to determine which crossover offers the best features.

To assist consumers looking for a suitable crossover SUV, Benson Honda, a San Antonio-based dealership compared two of the newest crossovers to hit the market: the 2014 Honda Pilot and the 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. What the dealership found in the crossover comparison is that under the hood the two vehicles are fairly similar, but under the roof the differences are easy to spot.

While both vehicles are considered crossovers, they aren't far off from being considered full-sized SUVs. Therefore the base models are powered by V-6 engines which achieve nearly identical performance. The Grand Cherokee does, however, offer a slightly higher towing capacity.

Among the biggest differences are the seating and storage capabilities. The Pilot provides a larger cabin and a third row seat which provides the crossover with seating for eight when the seatback is up, or roughly 48 cubic feet of storage when it's down. There is no third row seat in the Grand Cherokee which offers seating for five. Space for the extra seat in the Pilot is accounted for as the passenger volume is just under 50 cubic feet larger than the Grand Cherokee. Even with the extra space, the Pilot is still able to achieve a higher city fuel economy rating.

In addition to the crossover comparison, Benson Honda is putting other 2014 Honda models against the competition. Their full list of comparisons can be found on the dealership's website at Any questions should be directed to the professional sales team which can be reached through the website, or by phone at 888-992-4616.
