SAN RAFAEL, Calif., March 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Carlos Santana will again lend his support for the San Francisco School of the Arts (SOTA) by performing at this year's fundraising concert, "SOTA at the Fillmore." The sold-out event, which also features both a silent and live auction as well as a broad spectrum of live performances by students, is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on April 11, 2000, at the Fillmore Auditorium at Fillmore and Geary in San Francisco. "I am honored to participate in this event to help raise funds on behalf of the San Francisco School of the Arts," says Santana. "SOTA plays an important role in the lives of many gifted young people from throughout the Bay Area by helping them build careers in music, dance, theatre and visual arts. I enjoy playing this benefit and sharing the gift of music with some very talented young artists." For the show, Carlos will be joined by Santana Band keyboardist, Chester Thompson. The two will perform with both the Jazz Band and Concert Orchestra. In addition to the performances, the event features both a silent and live auction of various items, including a very special commemorative Fillmore poster by artist, Randy Tutten. SOTA is the only publicly funded arts high school in the Bay Area, offering specialized training for more than 400 gifted students in vocal and instrumental music, dance, theatre arts, theatre technology, film and video, and visual arts. SOTA encourages creative and independent thinking while enhancing the artistic excellence of promising students in the arts.
