Search Gainers:
The news frenzy surrounding Republican presidential nominee John
McCain's choice of his vice presidential running mate has caused an
avalanche of online interest in Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, surging 700
percent since last Friday. Palin generates more search activity this week
than Hurricane Gustav and the Democratic National Convention combined. The
most popular Sarah Palin search-related queries include: Sarah Palin
family, Sarah Palin candidate, Sarah Palin down syndrome, and Sarah Palin
pregnant daughter. Meanwhile, search interest in actress Selena Gomez, star
of the Disney Channel's The Wizards of Waverly Place, triples following
rumors Gomez is dating Nick Jonas, upstaging fellow Disney Channel star
Miley Cyrus. Gomez has also just released her music video for "Tell Me
Something I Don't Know" from Another Cinderella Story. Searches also spike
this week for American Idol's newest judge, Grammy-nominated songwriter
Kara DioGuardi, up 525 percent. DioGuardi has jumped right into her judging
duties, joining Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell for the New
York City Idol tryouts this week. And online interest in actor David
Duchovny rises 175 percent after the X Files star announced he has
voluntarily entered treatment for sex addiction.
