LOS ANGELES, Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Oprah Winfrey and Jane Fonda may
have decided lately that talk radio for women is an exciting new business,
but the most widely syndicated show already on the air, ABC Radio's
Satellite Sisters, extended its lead this week as the most successful show
in its category by receiving two more honors from the radio industry.
Satellite Sisters, carried on over 80 radio stations around the country
and XM Satellite Radio, was honored with a Marconi nomination from the
National Association of Broadcasters, as Network Syndicated Personality of
 the Year.
Also this month, Satellite Sisters won a 2006 Radio Ink Magazine's
Readers Choice Award in the General Talk category.
These two awards are added to a list that includes seven prestigious
Gracie Allen Awards for Excellence from American Women in Radio &
Television (AWRT), including this year's award for Outstanding Radio Talk
 Show.
"We are thrilled to see all the excitement about making talk radio a
more welcoming place for female listeners," said John McConnell, Sr. VP
Programming for ABC Radio Networks. "It's the Satellite Sisters who have
blazed that trail and continue to be leaders in the format. It's pretty
unique to have five real sisters host a talk show together. Their
combination of intelligence, humor and respect has won over both female and
male listeners around the country. We welcome Ms. Winfrey and Ms. Fonda to
the party the Satellite Sisters started four years ago."
