RACINE, Wis., Sept. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SC Johnson has been recognized for a third consecutive year by Hispanic Business magazine as a top company for diversity as indicated by the company's ranking on the Diversity Elite Top 60 List released today.
SC Johnson ranked #27 on the Diversity Elite Top 60 List, moving up six spots from last year. Placement on the annual list, published in the September 2011 issue of the magazine, is determined by more than 30 variables that measure a company's commitment to Hispanic hiring, promotion, marketing, philanthropy and supplier diversity.
"We are honored to be recognized again by Hispanic Business magazine. For generations, mutual respect and inclusion have been core values of our family-owned company. We truly believe that diversity adds strength, skills, ideas and unique perspectives to the company," said SC Johnson Chairman and CEO Fisk Johnson, "We win when a variety of backgrounds are represented around the table. It also helps us better understand the needs of our customers and consumers – a critical component in our competitive marketplace."
The 2010 U.S. Census results confirmed that more than 52 percent of U.S. population growth came from Hispanics. This population group is expected to continue growing, therefore becoming an even larger percentage of the general population.
SC Johnson has long been recognized as a great place to work with multiple recognitions from FORTUNE magazine, Working Mother magazine, DiversityInc., and the Human Rights Campaign.
In compiling the list, Hispanic Business magazine examined top FORTUNE 1000 companies, American subsidiaries of Global 500 companies and large U.S. public and private companies.
"At SC Johnson, we don't just talk diversity...we live it every day." said Maria L. Campbell, Director of Diversity at SC Johnson. "That equates to an environment of respect and integrity, where everyone is key to our story and our success."
