Scarab Consulting Announces its Newly Acquired Certification as a European Union Safe Harbor
Litigation and eDiscovery Service Provider Attains EU Safe Harbor Certification Assuring Clients of Privacy Protection, as Defined by European Union's Directives
AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Scarab Consulting, www.consultscarab.com, a leading provider of technology driven solutions for litigation and eDiscovery, announced today that the company's primary processing facility in Austin, Texas has successfully passed the stringent European Union's directives in order to obtain the status of "EU Safe Harbor Certified."
Originally created to bridge the different privacy approaches between the US and European "adequacy" standards for privacy protection and to provide a streamlined means for U.S. organizations to comply with the European Union's Privacy Directive, the U.S. Department of Commerce in consultation with the European Commission developed a "safe harbor" framework. The safe harbor -- approved by the EU in 2000 -- is an important way for U.S. companies to avoid experiencing interruptions in their business dealings with the EU or facing prosecution by European authorities under European privacy laws. Safe harbor certification assures that EU organizations know that a company provides "adequate" privacy protection, as defined by the Directive.
"We are excited about this acknowledgement," says Ken Naumann, CEO of Scarab Consulting. "Protecting our customers' privacy has always been important to us. This certification simply validates our continued commitment to that value."
