Scholarship America Launches PSA Campaign to Seek Scholarship Stories, Create Awareness for Importance of Private Scholarships

PSA on Times Square Super Screen Encourages Citizen Engagement via www.myscholarshipstory.org

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 25 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Scholarship America announced today that their new 15-second PSA will be featured on the CBS Super Screen in New York City's Times Square between Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve. The PSA (transcript below) will run once each hour, for 18 hours a day. It has the potential to reach more than 60 million people while it airs, as more than 1.5 million New Yorkers, commuters and visitors pass through Times Square each day.

The PSA encourages individuals who have received scholarships to share their story on www.myscholarshipstory.org. These stories will be shared publicly through Scholarship America's online and print publications as part of the organization's efforts to raise awareness of the importance of private scholarships.

In 2011, Scholarship America will celebrate its 50th anniversary. The stories collected via myscholarshipstory.org will become an important part of the anniversary celebration.

"Scholarship America is a national nonprofit organization that has been helping students gain access to education beyond high school for fifty years," said Mim Schreck, president. "But we've been the nation's best-kept secret. This opportunity to share our message in Times Square--and gather stories from individuals who have benefited from scholarships--will help us gain additional recognition and support as we begin planning for our next fifty years."
