distribution channels

LAS VEGAS, SCO Forum, Aug. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The SCO Group, Inc.
("SCO") (Nasdaq: SCOX), owner of the UNIX operating system and a leading
provider of UNIX-based solutions, today announced a partnership at its annual
SCO Forum conference with Cymphonix Corporation, a premiere provider of
network management solutions for business, government, and educational
institutions in the United States. Through the partnership, Cymphonix Network
Composer, a powerful integrated network appliance, will be distributed through
 SCO distribution channels.
Network Composer gives network administrators instant visibility, control
and protection over network resources. It is the only network appliance on
the market that provides application and user prioritization, real-time
traffic monitoring, spyware protection, web filtering, fool-proof control over
illegal peer-to-peer file sharing and recently with the latest firmware
 release, instant messaging logging.
Network Composer also allows administrators to see, in most cases for the
first time, what is actually happening on the Internet and with WAN resources,
both by application and by user. Accordingly, since signing an agreement with
Cymphonix, Network Composer appliances have seen good adoption through SCO
channel partners for the benefit of their customers.
"We have already seen success in our partnership with SCO," said Mike
Montrose, Cymphonix vice president of sales and marketing. "Many SCO channel
partners are now actively recommending Network Composer to their customers as
an indispensable tool for controlling and managing their network. They have
found that when their customers attend one of our live, web-based product
tours, a very high percentage of them immediately enter into a buying
discussion. Most attendees comment on Composer's intuitive ease-of-use, and
also on its affordability -- they had no idea that enterprise-level network
management technology of this caliber was now easily within their budget."
The partnership between SCO and Cymphonix has also led to an agreement for
Cymphonix to port Network Composer to the recently released SCO OpenServer 6
platform. SCO and Cymphonix expect to have the development work completed
 within the next few months.
"SCO OpenServer 6 is a solid and reliable platform on which to base
Network Composer," said Kevin Asay, vice president of business development for
Cymphonix. "The significantly increased performance and reliability found in
SCO OpenServer 6 will make Network Composer a compelling solution for those
customers who wish to run the appliance based on the strength of UNIX."
In recent months, Cymphonix has participated in SCO sales and reseller
training through web-based seminars, and has provided their network appliance
solution to SCO distributors to make Network Composer more easily available to
SCO resellers. SCO resellers can currently purchase Network Composer directly
through DTR and Terian through SCO's partner lounge located at
"SCO's reseller channel has responded favorably to the addition of Network
Composer from Cymphonix," said Alan Raymond, vice president of Americas sales,
The SCO Group, Inc. "The joint sales training and webinars hosted by SCO and
Cymphonix have been well-attended and the solution has generated great
interest throughout our North American channel. We look forward to extending
this solution throughout the world, for the benefit of all our resellers in
 the near future."
