Sealy Expands Management Team

    ARCHDALE, N.C., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Sealy, Inc., the world's leading
 mattress producer, announces that Mike Campbell has joined Sealy as vice
 president, engineering and Randy Cowart has joined as vice president,
 purchasing and procurement.
     Campbell is responsible for all of Sealy's engineering, corporate bill-of-
 material, and quality functions.  Cowart will direct corporate purchasing and
 is responsible for approving, negotiating and evaluating vendors and
 alternative sources of supply for all key materials.  Both report to Mike
 Hofmann, senior vice president of operations.

 Randy brings a wealth of knowledge in the home textiles business and has an

     Mike Campbell, 50, has more than 17 years experience in engineering and
 management experience.  Most recently, he served as the vice president of R&D
 at Maytag and led the development of four new platforms rated #1 and #2 by
 Consumer Reports.  Prior to that post, Campbell held leadership positions at
 Kohler Company, Clark Material Handling Company and Combat Systems Division of
 United Defense.  Campbell is a graduate of the United States Military Academy
 at West Point, where he obtained his B.S. in engineering.  He served in the
 U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Captain.
     Randy Cowart, 55, has 24 years of experience in sourcing, procurement and
 general management.  Most recently, he served as senior vice president and
 chief procurement officer for Springs Industries.  His leadership credentials
 include experience as general manager of sourcing for GE and management posts
 in sourcing for Wal-Mart.  Cowart is a graduate of the University of Missouri.
