Selective Reaches $2 Million Milestone With Agent-Friendly Internet-Based Business System 'One & Done' a Big Hit With Agents

 Selective Insurance Group, Inc. (Nasdaq:   SIGI), announced today that its
 independent agent partners have issued more than $2 million in business
 through "One & Done," Selective's Internet-enabled business system that allows
 agents to quote, bind and process small business policies within minutes.
     "One & Done" is designed to reduce transactional costs for agencies and
 Selective by providing straight-through processing of small commercial
 insurance policies.  The system is easy to use, reaches a targeted mix of
 business segments, and works with minimal company intervention, as agencies
 are able to complete a quote and proposal at the point of customer contact,
 with automatic delivery of policies.
     "We created 'One & Done' in response to agent requests for a tool to help
 them grow their small business accounts in a cost-effective manner," said Bill

 enables Selective to enhance agency relationships, while lowering policy
 transaction costs."
     Selective began piloting "One & Done" in the second half of 2000.  Today,
 it has been installed in more than 450 independent agencies and is available
 in all 20 states the company serves.
