Sensis Team Successfully Completes 3DELRR Program System Requirements Review
Three-Dimensional Expeditionary Long-Range Radar Program Advances on Schedule
EAST SYRACUSE, N.Y., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Sensis Corporation successfully completed the System Requirements Review (SRR) for the U.S. Air Force's Three-Dimensional Expeditionary Long-Range Radar (3DELRR) program. During SRR, the U.S. Air Force, along with industry organizations, conducted a comprehensive review of the Sensis 3DELRR systems engineering, integration and test processes against overall systems requirements to ensure that the program meets U.S. Air Force requirements.
The U.S. Air Force's 3DELRR program is a replacement program for the AN/TPS-75 radar. The primary mission of the 3DELRR is long-range surveillance, control of aircraft and theater ballistic missile detection. The Sensis-led team, which includes Raytheon Company and Moog, Inc., was selected last May for the program's technology development phase.
"The successful SRR confirms that the Sensis 3DELRR program satisfies the U.S. Air Force's technical requirements and that we're on schedule for subsequent milestones, such as the PDR and system demonstration," said Marc Viggiano, chief operating officer of Sensis Corporation. "In addition, the SRR further validates our approach of developing a new radar that directly meets the challenges of today's expeditionary forces."
The 3DELRR program is one of the Department of Defense's first major acquisitions to be conducted under the Defense Acquisition System 5000.02 directive. The 5000.02 process will result in a more efficient, timely and cost-effective acquisition of advanced technologies, such as 3DELRR, to meet the demands of U.S. military war fighters.
