JOLIET, Ill., July 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- All over the country, service dogs are making life easier for people with disabilities. In order to help educate the public about this important topic, Bill Jacobs Subaru, the premier Subaru dealer in Joliet, IL, will be hosting a demonstration from the Ray Graham Association on Saturday, August 4th from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. The dealership will be giving out free bandanas to all dog friends for attending the event.
Ray Graham's Thomas F. Morris Service Dog Program is a highly respected program and the only one of its kind in the state of Illinois. The program is committed to servicing the needs of the disabled by providing them with helpful service dogs. Once matched with a dog, disabled persons have been able to lead more productive lives.
The dogs within the program undergo extensive training before becoming a service dog. Each dog must go through at least 500 hours of training in the program before being certified, assuring that each one is ready to take on the responsibility of having a person rely on it. The dogs assist by opening doors, bringing the person a phone, serving as a brace, carrying items, and much more.
Bill Jacobs Subaru invites anyone interested in learning about the program to attend the August 4th demonstration which will feature the dogs and their trainers. The dealership is located at 2525 W. Jefferson St. in Joliet, IL. It can be reached at 888-535-0371 or online at www.billjacobssubaru.com.
