Seven African-American Warehouse Employees at Dr. Pepper/Snapple Plant in Northlake File Racial Discrimination Lawsuit

 

CHICAGO, Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ --

WHO: Three former and four current warehouse employees* at the Dr. Pepper/Snapple plant at 401 Railroad Avenue in Northlake. . .

WHAT: will hold a news conference with their attorney, Eugene K. Hollander, to announce they have filed a lawsuit (CASE NO. 09-cv-07803) in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois against the company's management, claiming they were subjected to a racially-hostile work environment**. . .

WHERE: at The Law Offices of Eugene K. Hollander, 33 N. Dearborn, Suite 2300, Conference Room. . .

WHEN: on Thursday, December 17, 2009, at 10:00 a.m.

* The plaintiffs (alpha.): Jermaine Benson, Aaron Gould, Kendall Green, Jr., Archie Hayes, Robin Murray, Tristan Reed and Daniel Williams.

** The plaintiffs' supervisors, who were Latino, would frequently use offensive language towards them. Several plaintiffs found such discriminatory language scrawled on their lockers in January 2009; they complained, it was removed, and then reappeared in May.

NOTE: Most of the plaintiffs have worked at the plant for two years on the night shift. They claim they tried unsuccessfully to take their complaint to upper management.
