Seven Subaru vehicles in top ten at Rallye Defi
Subaru rounds out the podium in fourth event of the CRC season.
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Sept. 10, 2012 /CNW/ - Subaru continues its battle in the 2012 Canadian Rally Championship after claiming one podium position with seven Subaru vehicles in the top ten as Rallye Defi Ste. Agathe comes to a close this past September 6-8 in Ste. Agathe, Quebec.
"Crazy Leo" Urlichich, who is currently second in the Canadian points standings, and his co-driver, Carl Williamson, battled difficult conditions and driveline issues for a third-place finish on the podium in their 2007 Subaru WRX STI.
Subaru Rally Team Canada driver Pat Richard from Squamish, B.C., and co-driver Alan Ockwell from Toronto, Ontario, were sidelined by mechanical problems during the third stage on the first day. Though this unfortunate set of circumstances eliminated the duo from the event, Richard and Ockwell have their sights set on victory with numerous recent enhancements including a new engine and tires as well as a sequential gearbox capable of shaving critical seconds off of each hard-fought kilometre. Additional testing days are also in the works before the upcoming Pacific Forest Rally, held early next month in Merritt, B.C.
"We can be confident in the fact that we are still on pace," said Richard. "If we can have a clean run, we can fight for victory. Hopefully we'll be ready for Pacific Forest Rally and can win the next two events of the championship."
Here are the top-ten finishers for the event:
- Ken Block - Alex Gelsomino - one hour, 33 minutes, 26.0 seconds
- Antoine L'Estage - Nathalie Richard - 1:36:46.3
- Leo Urlichich - Carl Williamson - 1:40:35.2
- Simon Losier - Philippe Poirier - 1:46:11.1
- Maxime Labrie - Robert Labrie - 1:47:23.8
- Maxime Rochefort-Laframboise - Jerome Milette - 1:48:01.6
- Marc Bourassa - Daniel Paquette - 1:51:15.1
- Max Riddle - Aaron Neumann - 1:52:07.3
- Warren Haywood - Jennifer Daly - 1:54:33.1
- Alexandre Ouellette - Nicholas Ouellette - 1:57:56.8
The penultimate event in the Canadian Rally Championship is the Pacific Forest Rally, which will run October 12-13 near Merritt, British Columbia.
