DETROIT, Dec. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Shinola introduces The Wright Brothers™ Limited Edition Watch, created to honor the Wrights' incredible contribution to America's history of innovation and industry.
Each timepiece comes in a special custom gift box with a certificate of authenticity, leather card wallet, leather carrying case, and a hickory watch box. Also included is a leather-bound coffee table book that delves into the background and achievements of the Wright brothers, featuring rare imagery from the Wright brothers' private collection.
In tandem with The Wright Brothers™ Limited Edition Watch, Shinola is building 25 customized bicycles featuring The Runwell frame and fork with a jet-black finish, sleek bamboo fenders, and a bright headlamp.
Purchase of The Wright Brothers™ Limited Edition Watch includes automatic membership into The Foundry: a private collectors club established exclusively for owners of limited edition Shinola wristwatches.
This handcrafted timepiece is the first watch in The Great Americans Series— a collection of limited edition watches created to honor iconic American innovators and industrial pioneers. It's a very special kind of American-made in celebration of those who helped make our country great.
A private launch event to kick off the Great Americans Series and unveil the watch and bicycle was held at the Henry Ford Museum in Detroit—permanent location of the Wright brothers' bike shop and childhood home. In working with the Wright family, Shinola was gifted a piece of original wing cloth from the Wright Flyer I. At the event, Shinola and the Wright family donated a piece of the original Wright Flyer I wing cloth to the Henry Ford Museum.
The Wright Brothers™ Limited Edition Watch and Bicycle will be available for purchase on Shinola.com, and at the Shinola flagship stores in Detroit and New York City, on December 10th, 2013.
In 2011, Shinola, a Bedrock Manufacturing brand, was conceived with the belief that products should be built to last, and they should be built right here in America. As makers of modern, handcrafted watches, bicycles, leather goods, and journals, we are proud to be based in Detroit, a community-minded city with a strong manufacturing legacy. We built our watch factory within the College for Creative Studies in the former Argonaut building. As a new company with a storied name, we stand for skill at scale, the preservation of craft, the beauty of industry.
