NEW YORK, Oct. 2, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- On January 13, 2014, Sidoti & Co. LLC will host its sixth and largest micro-cap conference, with Manhattan's Grand Hyatt Hotel once again the venue. Based on the acceptance rate so far, the conference will be one of the largest gatherings ever held of institutional money managers and management teams focused on the sub-$200 million market cap sector. Thirty companies have already committed to tell their stories to about 400 investors, and Sidoti expects the number of presenters to reach 70. Sidoti is particularly interested in showcasing micro-caps that have sound fundamentals and intriguing stories, show fast growth and profitability, or otherwise hold great promise, yet are largely unknown to the investment community.
If positive feedback is any indication, attendees and presenters alike find Sidoti's conferences to be well-organized and value-added. The firm's ability to leverage its experience in the small-cap arena means that few others can match its reputation for consistency and quality.
The January 13, 2014 event will again demonstrate Sidoti & Co. LLC's coordinated and diligent effort to create Wall Street's first complete research product for micro-cap names. The firm began its micro-cap coverage in January 2010, with five analysts assigned solely to that neglected segment. The team was the only one of its kind, but Sidoti maintained that many micro-cap companies have solid fundamentals and/or unique growth catalysts, and had faith it could persuade investors that the group contains superior investment opportunities. Now 20 Sidoti analysts are devoted to micro-cap research, and the firm's coverage has expanded to more than 200 micro-cap names. That total is likely to exceed 400 by the end of 2014.
Reflecting the growing institutional investor interest in micro-caps, Sidoti is making its research available on direct distribution sites such as FactSet Research Systems, Thomson Reuters, and Bloomberg, among many others; the firm is establishing a separate sales team to exclusively address micro-cap names; and the goal for 2013 is to up the number of Sidoti non-deal road show days to at least 250 from 2012's already noteworthy 130. Because of the enthusiasm shown for the Micro-Cap Conferences so far, these events will likely be an ongoing part of the firm's offerings.
Sidoti continues to grow in a deliberate, thoughtful way, seeking to serve clients as well and creatively as possible. The firm is already busily preparing for January 13's Micro-Cap Conference, making sure that presenters will be glad they participated and attendees will come away armed with intriguing and actionable micro-cap investment ideas.
