MALVERN, Pa., Dec. 3, /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Siemens Medical
Solutions (www.usa.siemens.com/healthcareit) today announced the general
availability of the newest version of INVISION(R), one of Siemens health

INVISION 27 contains enhanced features that focus on supporting
customers in their patient safety initiatives, with the most prominent
being allergy enhancements. With this version, customers will migrate to
the new Drug Allergy Module (DAM) from First DataBank(R) (FDB). This new
module provides additional allergen information designed to improve
clinical checking. For example, allergy codes have a new structure based on
drug names, groups, and ingredients. The allergy data can be interfaced to
various systems including Siemens Pharmacy and Soarian(R) Clinicals to
support the foundation for the electronic health record. In order to
support the new drug allergy codes and future regulatory and functional
enhancements, Siemens has performed its largest platform upgrade ever.

"We are dedicated to helping all of our customers improve the quality
of their healthcare delivery, while driving down costs associated with many
clinical, financial and administrative tasks," explains Janet Dillione,
president, Health Services, the Healthcare IT Division of Siemens Medical
Solutions. "Making a significant investment in enhancing our INVISION
platform, which is one of the most widely deployed systems in the U.S., was
a top priority for us, as we remain committed to supporting all customers
across our multiple product lines in delivering the best level of patient
 care."

Denver Health and Hospital Authority, a healthcare system consisting of
a 500-bed main hospital, a 911 medical response system, a network of family
and school-based health centers, public health resources, and a Level I
Trauma Center, has been a Siemens customer since 1996 and was recently
upgraded to INVISION 27. "The upgrade was nearly flawless and the support
we received from our partners at Siemens was outstanding," stated Gregory
Veltri, chief information officer, Denver Health. "Siemens finished ahead
of schedule and actually caught us in the middle of completing maintenance
on gateways. The feedback we received from our staff members and physicians
after the upgrade was all positive."
