SinoLatin Capital Releases China - Latin America Commodity Trade & Investment White Paper at Fudan University Latin America Investment Seminar
SHANGHAI, Nov. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- SinoLatin Capital (www.sinolatincapital.com) co-hosted a Latin America Investment Seminar with the prestigious Fudan University, where it released its latest white paper titled "China - Latin America Commodity Trade & Investment: Enduring Trends Towards 2027" http://www.sinolatincapital.cn/Upload/20091123103159.pdf The white paper provides a general overview of the commodity trade between China and Latin America, current demand environment and future trends. By studying Japan and South Korea's historical relationship between per capita GDP and commodity consumption patterns, SinoLatin Capital has developed a reference forecast for China of selected commodities through the year 2027.
With trade and investment between China and Latin America increasing more than tenfold since 2000, the white paper aims to provide thought leadership on the implications for Latin America and the world of China's exploding demand for commodities.
Overall, China's commodity imports have experienced a 21.1% compounded yearly increase since 1990. In this decade, China's commodity imports from Latin America have increased 37.7% per year on a compounded basis (higher than that from Africa - 35.5% - and Asia - 24% - excluding China). This trend is expected to continue in response to China's sound economic policies and massive domestic spending in infrastructure, encouraging trade and outbound investment aimed at securing the long-term supply of certain commodities.
"Our research indicates that China's increasing demand for commodities will have a significant impact on global supplies, positioning Latin America and its abundance of commodity resources as a vital partner in helping China sustain its economic development," said Rafael Valdez Mingramm, a founding partner of SinoLatin Capital and principal author of the white paper.
The SinoLatin Capital - Fudan University seminar focused on the mining sector and brought together both investors and academics to discuss the investment climate and opportunities in Latin America. SinoLatin Capital is sponsoring a series of seminars to help educate Chinese investors on Latin America and its investment opportunities.
Located in Shanghai's financial district, SinoLatin Capital is the first merchant bank focused exclusively on cross border transactions between China and Latin America. The Firm has two core businesses: financial advisory and private equity.
