HERNDON, Va., Oct. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- VT iDirect, Inc. (iDirect), a company of VT Systems, Inc. (VT Systems), today announced that SkyVision, a global IP telecommunications service provider to emerging markets, has donated an iDirect-powered satellite network for the Crossover International Academy, a K-8 school located in the village of Tongor-Attokrokpo, Ghana. The network was implemented as part of a joint effort between iDirect and SkyVision to help the academy improve its educational offering by providing underprivileged students with online educational resources. iDirect is a world leader in satellite-based IP communications technology.
SkyVision's SkyDirect VSAT service, based on the iDirect platform, was chosen to provide the service due to its proven reliable connectivity. The VSAT service enhances the way students learn and their overall education experience with Internet-based tools such as streaming video, social media, email and educational programs. For example, students can enhance reading levels by using uploaded video tutorials and online programs, such as PRO reading technology and Total Reader™.
Crossover is also leveraging the service to connect with Pegasus, its sister school in the US. The two schools can now communicate with one another via email, implement student debates over Skype and FaceTime, prepare weekly assignments and lesson plans, create online courses for the school's staff, and organize online fundraising activities.
"SkyVision is dedicated to providing reliable e-learning services that connect schools like Crossover to ensure students receive the best education. By running our service over iDirect's platform, we are able to bring a dependable service that helps the Crossover International Academy offer new educational tools, opening a world of opportunities to their 250 students. We are grateful to be partnering with iDirect on this project and look forward to the impact we can help deliver to Crossover's students."

"Teaming up with SkyVision ensures that Crossover students have reliable, high quality communications that help them learn, regardless of location or financial support.
