SYDNEY, Nov. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Good Technology™, the leader in secure mobility, today announced that Slater & Gordon Lawyers has deployed Good for Enterprise® (GFE) to support the firm's fleet of corporate and BYOD smartphones and tablets.

Founded in 1935, Slater & Gordon is an Australian law firm specializing in insurance claims, commercial, family and asbestos-related law. Slater & Gordon advise clients on a wide range of legal services, including all areas of liability and compensation law, family law, wills & probate, commercial disputes and litigation and business advisory services.

Prior to deploying Good for Enterprise, Slater & Gordon was using Microsoft® ActiveSync® in order to connect and configure mobile devices. ActiveSync's limitations became especially apparent as 'bring your own device' (BYOD) started to become more prevalent in the organisation.

"As more employees wanted to use their own smartphones, ActiveSync was no longer a viable solution for us," explained Eric Yew, Infrastructure Manager at Slater & Gordon. "For example, our staff did not want the IT department imposing device-wide logins and policy on their own phones and impeding access to their personal applications," he said.

Slater & Gordon's IT department assessed the mobile solutions available on the market and from a shortlist of two, elected to trial GFE. The trial successfully highlighted GFE's ability to provide the IT department with the level of control they needed over the corporate data and applications, while at the same time enabling employees to enjoy using their personal apps unhindered.

"Good's secure container approach means that corporate and personal information is strictly separated on the device, which is an important distinction from an employee perspective when they are supplying their own phone," continued Yew. "We also liked the fact that GFE offers multi-platform support."

GFE has been certified as Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 4 Augmented (EAL4+), which is the highest certification level recognised internationally under the Common Criteria program and is also the only solution to meet this level of certification on both iOS and Android™ operating systems. The program is conducted regularly on products deployed within environments handling sensitive government data. Businesses using GFE can thus be assured their mobile data has the highest levels of protection.

"Good for Enterprise is a very cost effective on-ramp for organisations either beginning or in the early stage of their mobile strategy, or what we call the 'Run' phase," said Gavin Jones, VP Sales & GM Australia & New Zealand at Good Technology. "From there, organisations will typically move to the 'Grow' part of their mobile journey, which is mainly about enhanced productivity.

"The third and final stage of the mobile journey, and one that we are very excited about partnering with all our clients on, is the 'Transform' phase. This is where organisations are reengineering business processes, or creating entirely new processes, by leveraging the power of mobility."
