smart Arrivals Series Lands at JFK Airport Art Exhibition
MONTVALE, N.J., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- smart, the popular European
carmaker, premieres its new initiative, the smart starts program with the
sponsorship of Terminal Five at JFK's TWA Terminal, which is reopening for a
four-month-long art exhibition on October 1st. smart starts is designed to
promote events that showcase emerging artists and creative thinkers across all
artistic mediums and will serve as the platform for a select group of Terminal
Five artists, together referred to as the 'Arrivals'.
"Terminal Five is the perfect environment to launch our smart starts
initiative as it combines our innovative and creative brand with this
innovative and creative art exhibition in the bastion of out-of-the-box
thinking, New York City," says David Schembri, vice president of smart USA.
"smart is a young brand that wants to position itself where dreams begin. The
smart brand stands as an example of what is possible when new ideas are
embraced, cultivated and incubated. We are excited at the prospect of exposing
these talented individuals to a broader audience," Schembri says.
"Terminal 5 is pleased to join forces with such a prestigious and
innovative transportation partner as smart," says Terminal Five curator,
Rachel Ward. "The smart Arrivals program is a unique aspect of the exhibition
in that it will provide a select number of emerging artists with their first
opportunity to take part in an event of this scale. Thanks to smart, we are
looking forward to launching careers at Terminal Five."
The smart Arrivals series, at Terminal Five, is a forum for emerging
artists from all over the world who are given privileged space in the Terminal
to showcase their work. The series includes temporary projects including
lectures, installations, music and dance performances, fashion and design
events, and more.
The strongest link between smart and Terminal Five is the core value they
share -- the celebration of the relationship between transportation and
design. Since its opening in 1962, the highly stylized historical landmark has
become known as a symbol of the democratization of air travel. This idea of
accessible style coupled with spirited adventure has defined smart since its
launch in 1998.
Two smart fortwos will be a featured exhibit at Terminal Five but this is
not the only place where smarts can be found on display. The fortwo is the
only vehicle still in production that holds the esteemed distinction of being
on permanent display at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City - a tribute
to its original style and eye-catching vehicle shape.
The U.S. market is scheduled to get smart's unique engineering and design

bring the brand's zesty character into one of the market's most popular
