Snoot! Cleanser Provides Travelers an Alternative to Neti Pot Health Risk Travel-friendly, natural, drug-free sinus cleanser uses antiseptic salts and sterile water to rinse nose and sinuses without the risk of infection from sometimes-fatal water-borne microorganisms that may be found in drinking water.

LOS ANGELES, Calif., Oct. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Neti pots have become very popular as a way to gain sinus relief.  Yet recent FDA warnings on health risks associated with improper use, and people's discomfort in using them, leave many looking for an alternative.  Many neti pot users have found Snoot! Cleanser to be a highly effective alternative to the neti pot.

The FDA recently published a consumer bulletin that highlighted the health risks inherent in improper use of neti pots. The bulletin was in part due to two deaths in 2011 that were caused by brain-eating amoeba found in domestic tap water.

Neti pots can be used with distilled or sterilized water. However, many users simply use tap water, which contains numerous impurities. While generally safe to drink, un-sanitized municipal water applied to the blood-rich tissues in the nose can result in infections by amoeba or other microorganisms.

In the 2011 cases resulting in death, a pathogen, Naegleria fowleri, also known as "the brain-eating amoeba", infected victims through the nasal tissue.  Once inside the body, the amoeba uses nerve fibers to cross the blood-brain barrier.  Once it reaches the brain it is largely beyond the reach of the immune system and drugs, and it rapidly spreads causing severe symptoms leading to death. The amoeba is commonly found in fresh water sources such as ponds, lakes, and rivers.  It is believed that the victims used untreated tap water in their neti pot.  Mortality from infection is estimated to be as high as 98%.

"We're pleased that the FDA has reached out to consumers to warn them of this risk.   Many people are not aware that municipal water can be unsafe for use in a neti pot. This impacts travelers, people at work, or anyone who needs to use a neti pot away from home or a safe water source" says Sinox Health founder, Jack Skeels.  "We designed Snoot! Cleanser to give sinus sufferers all of the goodness of the neti pot – including purified water – in a small convenient sprayer, without the hassle or risk.  Snoot! Cleanser comes in a travel friendly kit, no water required."

The ingredients in Snoot! Cleanser include sodium chlorite, a widely-used salt whose FDA-approved uses include food and water sanitation. As formulated in Snoot! Cleanser, it is laboratory-proven to kill viruses, bacteria, fungus, spores, mold, yeasts, bio-films and other microbial pathogens.  Snoot! Cleanser also includes carbonates and surfactants that work together to help the user rinse away pathogens and other foreign particles from their nasal and sinus passages.

"Our recent customer survey showed that people who try Snoot! Cleanser prefer it 15 to 1 over the neti pot, and  by a great margin they prefer it to traditional saline rinses", adds Skeels. "Many people have told us that they have thrown away their neti pot as a result of finding Snoot!"

Snoot! Cleanser comes in a convenient one-ounce spray bottle and requires only a few quick squirts to be effective.  By contrast, neti pots typically require 8-12 ounces of warm water.  Snoot! Cleanser comes in a travel-friendly multi-refill kit, and a single filling of the Snoot! nasal sprayer provides the equivalent of two quarts of neti pot solution.

Snoot! Cleanser is especially convenient for travelers and busy professionals. Snoot! Cleanser comes with a full 100% money-back guarantee. Find out more at www.SnootSpray.com
