Sorrento's OTN card has the ability to take multiple client-side interfaces, such as 2.5/4G services and Gigabit Ethernet, and carry them on a 10G WDM line-side interface. The new card allows GigaMux OTN system users to double their systems capacity with their existing deployed cards, simply by upgrading their software.
"The WDM market is increasingly demanding higher and faster ROI, and Sorrento Networks is offering a tool that helps them accomplish that goal," said Jim Nevelle , CEO of Sorrento Networks. "Our OTN card enables our customers to increase their capacity on their legacy networks, making their businesses more efficient. We are excited to offer yet another new and easy-to-implement product to the marketplace."
Nevelle added that carriers of WDM networks continue to grow by adding new customers and capacity. Now, deployment costs can be reduced by using underutilized fiber cables already in place. "The OTN card provides a dramatic increase in bandwidth to optical networks. Our WDM customers need to do more with less, and this solution allows them to do that," Nevelle said.
