South Lake Tahoe Chooses Parkeon For Paid Parking System City Strives To Improve Parking Turnover
MOORESTOWN, N.J., Aug. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Dubbed "America's Best Lake" by USA Today and renowned for its skiing, water sports, and casinos, Lake Tahoe is now home to a new paid parking system. Parkeon, the global leader in multi-space parking solutions, has just completed the installation of 32 Pay & Display parking meters within the City of South Lake Tahoe.
Like many popular resort towns, finding parking is a major problem both for visitors as well as residents. To solve that problem, South Lake Tahoe trialed 3 Parkeon meters in June 2011, with the goal of improving turnover of the parking spaces. The meters performed very well, with over 75% of transactions coming via credit card and machine uptime over 99.9%. In May 2013, City Council gave approval to implement a paid parking system citywide.
The Parkeon multi-space parking meters are all solar powered and wirelessly connected to the myParkfolio back-office system so the City can remotely monitor the meters, and respond quickly to any issues. Additionally, the City has 24/7 access to parking activity reports that can help them make parking policy decisions.
