Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants' Physicians In the News
CHARLOTTE, N.C., Sept. 30, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Two Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants' physicians, Mark Romanoff and Bryan May, were spotlighted recently for their professional leadership and expertise.
- Mark Romanoff, MD was a finalist for Physician of the Year in the Charlotte Business Journal's 2013 Excellence in Health Care awards program on September 27. A board certified anesthesiologist and pain management specialist, Romanoff was recognized for three decades of exemplary patient care and long-standing leadership within his practice and the medical profession. He was singled out for advocacy in the prevention of abuse and misuse of prescription pain medications, a growing problem in North Carolina that accounts for 1,000 unintended deaths annually. Romanoff is a founding member of the advisory board for the state's Controlled Substance Reporting Service, which tracks more than 19 million prescriptions for controlled substance made annually to help prevent abuse. He also serves as a regional trainer and mentor for Project Lazarus, an innovative program that helps communities implement strategic action plans to address misuse and abuse of prescription medications.
- Bryan May, MD, MBA was a presenter at the prestigious National Quality Colloquium, held in Washington, DC September 18-20. His subject, "Bending The Healthcare Cost Curve; Improved Quality Delivers Dual Benefit of Better Care and Lower Costs," explored how the application of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) principles in a medical setting helps reduce medical errors and complications and leads to improved patient outcomes and better cost efficiency. May, also board certified and fellowship trained in pediatric anesthesia, cited results from SAC proprietary CQI system that measures and reports 50 clinical indicators including patient satisfaction, clinician performance, quality outcomes and operation room efficiency.
