Speeding up Development on the Industry's Fastest SAS/SATA Protocol Analyzer
New capabilities added to BusXpert allow for faster searching, enhanced decoding, live performance monitoring and multiple capture recording for SAS and SATA analysis.
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Aug. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Flash Memory Summit 8/12/2009 - SerialTek, with its advanced line of Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) analyzers and Serial ATA (SATA) analyzers, is improving on its already industry-leading capture and display technologies with the addition of several major features: First, the new InstaSearch feature uses the latest MicroBlaze microprocessor technology to search through large trace buffers in seconds. Second, automatic re-starting of the capture allows the BusXpert to take multiple traces without user intervention. Third, powerful sequence-following algorithms have been implemented enabling the fast decoding of data packets and response packets whose meaning may only be determined by traversing the protocol through totally separate connections and/or links. Lastly, live counter capabilities have been enhanced to measure and display Read, Write, and IOPS performance during capture.
This enhancement of the BusXpert's feature set is a continuation SerialTek's mission to eliminate the bottlenecks that keep analyzer users waiting. With InstaSearch, developers are able to search for single and multiple events or data patterns in seconds across gigabytes of trace data. Auto-Starting is useful as a filtering technique, or as a way to gather longer-term statistical information regarding events, such as error conditions. Additional decoding details are now provided for popular SCSI, ATAPI, and SATA protocols allowing for quicker analysis. Combined with the Frame View, users can expect to see protocol fields fully decoded as in the protocol specification. Live counting of link events, such as frame errors and performance monitoring give engineers access to data previously inaccessible during capture. All of the new features augment BusXpert's SAS and SATA analysis capabilities and were driven by customer feedback.
"SerialTek engineers are encouraged to work closely with customers to understand and resolve their needs. Many of the new features are the result of this working relationship between users and designers," said Dale Smith, SerialTek's CTO.
"Overall, we have been very pleased with the level of support and development from SerialTek," said Kent Smith, Sr. Director of Product Management at SandForce. "The live Read/Write MB/s and IOPS monitoring feature enables our customers to test the incredible write performance of our SSD Processors under real-world test loads, not just synthetic benchmarks."
